Rod Guides: selection notes
In choosing a rod guide, the diameter, the length and the wrap angle of the yarn or the wire around the rod are considered together. The contact angle and the layout of the line determine the load and the friction on the rod; yarn tension does not depend on surface smoothness alone. The hard surface of technical ceramic delays grooving in the contact band and helps the rod keep its roundness. Ceramic does not rust; chemical resistance depends on the type, concentration and temperature of the substance in contact.
